Panem has won a gold star for our Mulled wine syrup and one for our coffee ‘Caffè Diamante’ by Torrisi at this year’s Great Taste awards in England. We are delighted with the results particularly as this follows on from an award we received for our Almond biscuits last year. It is also a great recognition of the quality of the coffee that Torrisi have been producing for over 100 years in Sicily.
We shipped the products out to England where they were judged a long with another 10,000 products from across Ireland and the U.K. Here are some of the judges’ comments that we received following the results for the coffee and the Mulled wine syrup:
‘Well balanced, smooth mouthfeel. Touch bitterness and sourness. Good clean bean. Even roast on the bean. Rich, but with just a little acidity.’
We loved this product – a delicate balance of spices, and not overly aggressive as many mulled wine spices are. Left a lovely mild spicy finish, which was very pleasant.
We have introduced both products into our Christmas Gift range this year. The coffee and mulled wine syrup will be included in our new Christmas hamper, a selection of our very best and award winning products all beautifully packaged in a Christmas themed wicker hamper basket.
