Our Story

Panem was established in 1996 by Ann Murphy a Home Economist and Raffaele Cavallo an architect originally from Sicily. Located in Dublin city centre along lower Ormond quay, the shop was designed by Raffaele and still retains its original design.

Food Freshly Prepared and Baked Each Day

The idea for Panem was simple – To produce quality, nutritious and full of flavour food to be enjoyed every day. Everything sold in Panem is made in Panem using our own unique recipes. We ensure on a daily basis that all of our products are of the highest standards with a particular emphasis on producing healthy food. We place a particular importance in making all our products on-site right in front of the customer.

We feel choice is extremely important

We have a range of gluten free products, plenty of vegetarian options and we only use whole foods and organic ingredients where possible. All our baked focaccia’s, sandwiches, croissants and brioche are made on the day and sold on the day.

Our coffee is also unique to Panem. We directly import ‘Caffè Diamante’ coffee from Torrisi in Sicily, a family owned business with over 100 years of experience in the industry.
